Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for West Ham v Man United
The Liverpool FC legend is backing Manchester United to drop more points on the road at West Ham on Thursday night
Mark Lawrenson is predicting that Manchester United will drop more points on the road when the Red Devils take on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Thursday night.
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium last weekend to lose for the fifth time on the road in the Premier League this term.
The Red Devils will come up against their former manager David Moyes and his West Ham side in the English capital in search of a return to winning ways ahead of the FA Cup final.
Manchester United have already secured second place in the Premier League table this term ahead of Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur in the top four.
The Red Devils will take on a West Ham side that have secured their Premier League status for another season despite some difficult results in the campaign.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing the Red Devils to squander more points on the road in the Premier League at West Ham on Thursday night.
“West Ham are safe now too after their win at Leicester on Saturday, which was a massive result for them and means the pressure is off in this game,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“Manchester United were ordinary in their defeat by Brighton on Friday, which is why I felt a bit sorry for Marcus Rashford when Jose Mourinho criticised him afterwards.
“If Rashford does not get many passes or chances then what can he really do.
“Defensively, United were not great either but Mourinho did not want to make a point about that. Sometimes I don’t know why he says what he does, other than to grab the headlines.
“What happened to the performance we saw from United in the second half against Manchester City at the start of April?
“That is the question I am asking, because we have not seen too much like it from them since.”
Manchester United will take on Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
The Red Devils signed Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in January.
