Arsenal have made contact with FC Porto about the possibility of signing defender Miguel Layun this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish newspaper AS, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the north London side have been impressed by the 29-year-old’s performances for Mexico at this summer’s World Cup and they are now keen on a move to try and sign him.
The same report says that the Gunners are a number of clubs interested in signing the defender this summer after he spent last season on loan to Sevilla from FC Porto.
The article claims that Arsenal have now made official contact with FC Porto about signing Layun – who can play at right-back and in midfield – this summer after being impressed by his performance for Mexico against Germany at the World Cup in Russia.
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Unai Emery prepares for his first campaign in charge.
The Gunners confirmed their second recruit of the summer last week when they tied up a deal to bring Bernd Leno to the club from Bayer Leverkusen.
