David Ospina reacts to new Arsenal signing
David Ospina remains coy about his Arsenal future after the signing of Bernd Leno
David Ospina remained coy about his Arsenal future when quizzed about the implications of the Gunners signing Bernd Leno last week.
The north London side tied up a deal to bring the German goalkeeper to The Emirates from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen as Unai Emery’s second signing as Arsenal boss.
The Gunners have been on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Petr Cech, who is now approaching the end of his career aged 36.
The move to sign Leno has prompted speculation about Ospina’s long-term future at Arsenal.
However, the Colombia goalkeeper, who is currently on international duty at the World Cup in Russia, has insisted that he is only focused on the tournament and is not thinking about his Arsenal future at present.
Speaking in an interview with VivaroNews Sport, Ospina said: “I’m now fully concentrated on national team.
“I know that Arsenal signed new goalkeeper, but I’m now focused on national team and after the World Cup I will think what to do next.”
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to build a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
The north London side, who have not won the title since 2004, finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season as they missed out on qualification for the Champions League.
