Insider dampens Arsenal’s hopes of signing Argentina star
Arsenal's hopes of signing Ever Banega this summer are slim, according to a Spanish journalist
Arsenal’s hopes of signing Ever Banega this summer could be hampered by his family’s reluctance to leave Spain, according to Spanish journalist Carlos Perez.
The north London side have been heavily linked with a move to bring Banega to The Emirates this summer as Unai Emery looks to assemble a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The Gunners have been widely reported to be in talks to sign the 29-year-old in recent days, although there is yet to be any official confirmation from the north London club.
Now though, Spanish reporter Perez has claimed that Arsenal could struggle to strike a deal to bring him to The Emirates this summer, because his family are unlikely to want to leave Spain this summer.
Perez, who is a reporter for Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, wrote on Twitter: “There are many rumours about Banega and Arsenal but Marcelo Simonian is no longer Ever’s agent. [And hasn’t been] for some time too.
“And his family, by the way, only wants to live in Sevilla.”
Arsenal confirmed their second signing of the summer last week when they announced the arrival of goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.
The north London side are thought to be on the lookout for a number of other new signings this summer as they bid to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
