Arsenal are still looking to negotiate a deal to sign Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that the north London side are keen on negotiating a £27m deal to bring the Uruguay midfielder to The Emirates this summer as Unai Emery looks to continue bolstering his squad.
Arsenal have already confirmed two new signings this summer after having tied up deals for both defender Stephan Lichtsteiner and goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
However, the new man in charge at The Emirates is reportedly keen on brining 22-year-old Uruguay midfielder Torreira to the club as he looks to stamp his authority at The Emirates ahead of next season.
Torreira is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the World Cup, and the Gunners are thought to be keen on tying up a deal as soon as possible.
Emery has been tasked with steering Arsenal back into the top four next season after the north London side finished in sixth place and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign at the club last term.
Arsenal have not lifted the Premier League trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
