Arsenal legends backs Gunners to sign quality Uruguayan
Stewart Robson urges Arsenal to consider a move to sign Lucas Torreira this summer
Stewart Robson has backed Arsenal’s reported pursuit of midfielder Lucas Torreira this summer.
The north London side have been strongly linked with a move to bring the 22-year-old Uruguay midfielder to The Emirates this summer as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.
Arsenal completed their second signing of the summer last week when they concluded a deal to bring goalkeeper Bernd Leno to the club from Bayer Leverkusen.
However, the Gunners are continuing to be linked with a host of players this summer as Emery looks to build a squad at least capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
Arsenal are thought to be strongly interested in landing Sampdoria midfielder Torreira this summer, and former Gunner Robson believes that he would be a great addition to the squad at The Emirates.
Speaking to ESPN FC, Robson said: “He is only 22. He is a dynamic player, He is an aggressive tackler.
“He has energy. He can cover the positions around the full-backs. He would be a decent signing.”
Arsenal will be aiming to at least break back into the top four next season after the Gunners finished in sixth place last term and without a trophy.
The north London side failed to qualify for the Champions League for the last two campaigns under Arsene Wenger before he opted to step down at the end of last season.
