Arsenal sent stark warning about Man City league opener
Shaun Goater looks ahead to Manchester City's Premier League opener against Arsenal in August
Shaun Goater has warned Arsenal that Manchester City will want to come out of the blocks firing in their Premier League opener in August.
The north London side will host the defending Premier League champions in their top-flight opener on 11 August as they look to start their stint under new boss Unai Emery on a positive note.
Manchester City were by far and away the top performing team in the Premier League last season as they won the title in style and became the first club to reach the 100-point mark.
Attentions will now turn towards whether Manchester City will be able to recreate their fine form next season as they look to try and defend their title.
Arsenal will host Manchester City on the opening weekend before travelling to Chelsea FC in their next Premier League game in August.
And Goater has warned the Gunners that the Citizens will be out to try and make sure they kick off their campaign in the strongest possible fashion.
Goater told Sky Sports News: “It’s about starting well. City [will] want to get out of the blocks and then try and gain momentum from there.
“City will be looking to win that first game, which I think is really important.”
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as the Gunners look to try and break back into the top four next season.
