Sky Sports reporter suggests German could be sold by Arsenal
Dharmesh Sheth suggests that Shkodran Mustafi could be on his way out of Arsenal this summer
Shkodran Mustafi could be on his way out of Arsenal this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The German defender missed out on a place in his national team’s World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament in Russia following his and Arsenal’s patchy form last season.
The 26-year-old has come in for plenty of criticism for his shaky performances for Arsenal since his move to The Emirates from Valencia two summers ago.
With Unai Emery having taken charge at Arsenal this summer, there has inevitably been speculation about which players the new manager could choose to axe ahead of his first campaign at the club.
Now, Sky Sports News reporter Sheth has hinted that Mustafi could end up being one of the casualties at Arsenal this summer.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Sheth said: “He [Mustafi] was rumoured to be leaving in the last couple of seasons.
“He has come in for some criticism from certain quarter amongst the Arsenal. Could he be the one to miss out? Expect departures as well as arrivals.”
Arsenal have already confirmed their first two signings of the summer transfer window after bringing in Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer and landing goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.
The north London side have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaigm.
Arsenal have finished outside of the top four spots in the Premier League for the last two seasons running.
