Arsenal to complete £17m third signing next week – report
Arsenal will sign Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund next week, say reports
Arsenal will complete their third summer signing next week by tying up a deal to bring Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund to The Emirates, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that the Gunners are expected to put the finishing touches on a £17m move to bring the defender to north London as their third recruit under Unai Emery.
The same report says that the 30-year-old defender is set to become an Arsenal player next week after large amounts of speculation linking him with a switch to The Emirates.
The story says that a deal for Arsenal to bring the defender to England has proven more difficult than first anticipated, but the move is now set to be finally confirmed in the coming days.
Arsenal have already bolstered their options at the back this summer by tying up deals for both defender Stephan Lichtsteiner and goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Emery is looking to assemble a team at least capable of breaking back into the top four next season after the north London side finished in sixth place and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign in charge last term.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since 2004.
