Free agent quiet on reports that he is signing for Arsenal
Stephan Lichtsteiner gives little away when quizzed about a possible move to Arsenal this summer
Stephan Lichtsteiner has refused to comment on reports that he is closing in on a transfer to Arsenal this summer.
The defender has been touted as a possible target for the north London side as new manager Unai Emery looks to bolster his options at the back ahead of his first campaign in charge of the Gunners.
Lichtsteiner is available on a free transfer this summer as his Juventus contract is due to expire, and it has been reported that he has been in talks with Arsenal over a move to The Emirates over the last few weeks.
It has been claimed that the 34-year-old will agree a one-year deal to join the Gunners as he looks to bring some much-needed experience to the Arsenal defence ahead of next season.
Now, Lichtsteiner himself has broken his silence on the reports linking him with Arsenal, but gave little away when quizzed about a possible move to the north London club.
The defender is quoted as saying by Metro: “I cannot say anything about that [moving to Arsenal]. Nothing is finalised.
“Will it be done before the World Cup? I don’t know.”
Arsenal are likely to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to assemble a team capable of at least breaking back into the top four next season.
