Club chief hints third Arsenal signing is already complete
Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti hints that Arsenal have concluded a deal to sign Lucas Torreira
Arsenal have concluded a deal to sign Lucas Torreira, according to Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti.
The north London side have been heavily linked with a move to bring the Uruguay midfielder to The Emirates in recent days as Unai Emery looks to step up his bid to strengthen his squad this summer.
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to assemble a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
The 22-year-old Torreira, who is currently on international duty at the World Cup in Russia, has been widely tipped to be set to move to Arsenal as the club’s third summer signing.
And it appears that a deal to bring him to Arsenal is indeed close to being completed, if Sampdoria chief Osti’s latest comments are anything to go by.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Metro, Osti said: “Tomorrow we will have our first meeting with Giampaolo and this is when our transfer window starts.
“An excellent player like Torreira has left us but we will replace him. The squad will be competitive as always.”
Arsenal are looking to build a squad capable of securing Champions League qualification next season after the Gunners finished in sixth place and without a trophy last term.
The north London side have not won the title since their famous unbeaten triumph in 2004.
