Unai Emery is weighing up a potential Arsenal swoop to sign Russia international Aleksandr Golovin, according to a report.

Russian outfit Sport Express, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Gunners are scouting the 22-year-old at his home World Cup in Russia.

The same article states that Arsene Wenger’s replacement Emery is interested in a potential deal to sign the CSKA Moscow star.

According to the same story, Arsenal haven’t made an official bid to sign Golovin but their Spanish head coach is happy for the Gunners to pursue a deal.

The Russian playmaker scored one goal and made two assists in a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia before he impressed again in a 3-1 victory over Egypt.

Arsenal are looking slightly lightweight in midfield after Spanish playmaker Santi Cazorla left the club ahead of Jack Wilshere’s departure later this month.

The Gunners have tied down Switzerland international Granit Xhaka to a new long-term deal earlier this month.

Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on Champions League football for the second successive season.

The Gunners lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the League Cup final last term.
