Arsenal confident of wrapping up second signing in £22m deal – report
Arsenal are confident of securing the signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen in a £22m deal, say reports
Arsenal are confident of securing the signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen in a £22m deal, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Serie A side Napoli have turned their attentions towards signing Petr Cech from Arsenal, after missing out on a deal for Leno.
Leno is widely tipped to be on the verge of a move to The Emirates as Unai Emery looks to try and assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The same report says that Arsenal are closing in on the transfer of Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, and the Gunners are also set to bring in Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira in a £26.2m deal.
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Emery looks to build a squad capable of at least breaking back into the top four.
The Spaniard was appointed as Arsene Wenger’s successor at The Emirates back in May after the Frenchman stood down after almost 22 years in charge of the north London club.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League since 2004 and missed out on Champions League qualification for next season.
