Arsenal are in talks to sign goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, say reports
Arsenal are continuing discussions with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal to sign goalkeeper Bernd Leno this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the north London side are aiming to complete a deal to bring the shot-stopper to The Emirates this summer as they look for a long-term replacement for Petr Cech at The Emirates.
Leno has been strongly linked with a move to The Emirates in recent days and the same report now says that the Gunners are closing in on a deal to sign the goalkeeper.
The same story says that the transfer fee spent on signing Leno could be recouped by Arsenal selling David Ospina to Mexican side Tigres this summer.
The article says that a deal to bring the 26-year-old Leno to Arsenal is now “close” as he looks set to become the north London club’s second summer signing.
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as the north London side look to try and build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The Gunners finished sixth and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign in charge last term.
