Arsenal are set to hold talks to sign Ever Banega with the Sevilla midfielder's agent, according to a report
Arsenal are set to hold talks with the agent of Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega about a move to north London this week, according to a report in Spain.
The Daily Mirror quotes an unnamed report in Spain that claims the Gunners will meet with the Argentina international within the next week to discuss a potential move to the Gunners.
The same article states that Banega will fly to London later in the transfer window to enter into further discussions with Arsenal about a switch to the English capital before the deadline on 9 August.
According to the same story, Arsenal boss Unai Emery is interested in working with Banega again after the Spanish manager coached the Argentina international for four seasons at Sevilla.
Arsenal have already signed Switzerland veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus, while the Gunners have also brought in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal on Tuesday.
The Gunners finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in the Champions League for the second successive campaign.
Arsenal lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the League Cup final at Wembley last term.
