Unai Emery wants Arsenal to sign experienced Valencia midfielder Ever Banega, according to a report.
Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Arsenal manager is keen to bring the 29-year-old to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The same article states that Emery is keen to work with Banega for the second time in his managerial career after the pair teamed up during his four-year spell in charge of Sevilla.
According to the same story, Banega’s agent is set to fly to London to discuss the Argentina international’s potential switch to the north London club this summer.
The South American, who is set to turn 30 later this month, has two years left to run on his current deal with La Liga outfit Valencia.
Arsenal turned to Emery as their new manager after Arsene Wenger stood down following 22 seasons in charge of the Gunners.
The Gunners have already signed veteran Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus this summer.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when the Gunners finished the season without suffering a defeat.
Emery will be tasked with leading the Gunners back into the top four next term.
