Arsenal told experienced Argentina star not for sale – report
Arsenal have suffered a blow in their bid to sign Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega, according to a report
Arsenal have been informed by Sevilla that Ever Banega is not for sale this summer, according to a report in England.
The Independent is reporting that the La Liga side have made it clear that the Argentina international isn’t available in the current transfer window.
The same article states that Sevilla intend to do “everything in their power” to keep the Argentinian at the La Liga side for next season.
According to the same story, Banega is considering his options at the Spanish club to offer Arsenal hope of securing a deal for the 29-year-old.
The former Valencia star scored three goals and made three assists in 31 games in the Spanish top flight last term.
The Independent go on to reveal that Banega has a €20m (£17.6m) contract release clause this summer but Arsenal have a tight budget given the overhaul required under new manager Unai Emery.
The English media outlet reveals that a “high ranking” Sevilla official has informed the Independent that Banega is not for sale.
Arsenal signed Switzerland captain Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus earlier this month.
The Gunners spent a reported £20m on Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
