Arsenal could sign 23-year-old on a free transfer this summer – report
Arsenal are keen on a deal to sign Gelson Martins on a free transfer this summer if he quits Sporting Lisbon, say reports
Arsenal could sign Gelson Martins on a free transfer this summer if he quits Sporting Lisbon, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet Transfer Market Web, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the north London club are considering a move to try and bring the 23-year-old attacking midfielder to The Emirates this summer.
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Unai Emery looks to build a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season following his appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor.
According to the same report, Arsenal are keen to get Portugese winger Martins on board.
Martins is reportedly considering his future at the club and could cancel his contract after the club’s training ground was attacked by fans.
Arsenal are likely to have a more restricted transfer budget this season than in recent summers due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League for the last two campaigns.
The north London side ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season in Wenger’s final campaign in charge at The Emirates.
