Arsenal could move to sign Jack Butland as Petr Cech’s long-term successor, Kaveh Solhekol has claimed.
The Gunners have appointed Spanish head coach Unai Emery as their new manager after Arsene Wenger stood down following 22 years in charge.
Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League for the second successive campaign.
The north London side have regressed over the past decade or so despite winning the FA Cup three times in the last five years.
The Gunners struggled defensively throughout the 2017-18 season after Arsenal conceded 54 times in 38 games in the Premier League.
Arsenal number one Petr Cech has allowed his high standards to drop at the Emirates Stadium since his move from Chelsea FC in 2014.
Butland was unable to prevent Stoke City from suffering relegation to the Championship after the Potterw finished in the bottom three.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol believes Arsenal could target Butland in the summer transfer window.
“He will almost definitely be leaving Stoke this summer,” Solhekol told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Arsenal could look to get a new goalkeeper as well. Cech isn’t getting any younger. He will definitely be leaving after the World Cup.”
