Reporter reveals Arsenal manager Unai Emery keeping tabs on 26-year-old
Sky Sports News reporter Peter Graves says Unai Emery is eyeing an Arsenal move for Jean Seri this summer
Arsenal manager Unai Emery is keeping an eye on Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to Peter Graves.
The Ivory Coast international has been attracting plenty of interest from a number of top European clubs in the current transfer window.
Seri was on the brink of a move to La Liga giants FC Barcelona last summer but the Nice star ultimately remained in Ligue 1 for the 2017-18 season.
The 26-year-old scored one goal in 49 games in all competitions but Seri scored two goals and made five assists in 31 games in Ligue 1.
Arsenal are thought to be interested in a potential swoop to sign the African midfielder to improve their options in the middle of the park.
2017 Premier League champions Chelsea FC are also thought to be monitoring Seri’s situation at Nice closely.
Manchester City and Manchester United have also been linked with a move to sign the Ivorian over the past 12 months.
Sky Sports News reporter Graves confirmed that Arsenal and Chelsea FC have a genuine interest in the Nice star.
“Chelsea have been linked. Arsenal have been linked,” Graves told the Transfer Talk podcast. “Emery is thought to have a little eye on him.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season behind Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal and Chelsea FC could sign Seri without the lure of Champions League football.
