Arsenal close to completing third summer signing – report
Arsenal are close to signing both Lucas Torreira after landing Bernd Leno, say reports
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Lucas Torreira following the arrival of Bernd Leno, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the north London side are close to completing the deal for their next summer signing as Unai Emery looks to stamp his authority on his new squad at The Emirates.
The same story says that Arsenal have already all but tied up a deal to bring defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos to the club from Borussia Dortmund following the free transfer of Stephan Lichsteiner this summer.
And after Arsenal confirmed the signing of Leno on Tuesday night, the same report says that a deal for Uruguay international Torreira is now “close” as the Gunners look to significantly strengthen their squad ahead of Emery’s first campaign in charge.
The Spaniard has been brought in as Arsene Wenger’s permanent successor at The Emirates after the Frenchman chose to call time on his 22-year stint in charge of the Gunners at the end of last season.
Wenger left Arsenal with the north London side having failed to qualify for the Champions League for the last two seasons running, meaning that they will play in the Europa League in Emery’s first campaign at the club.
