Arsenal are confident of completing a deal to sign Lucas Torreira after the Gunners confirmed the signing of Bernd Leno on Tuesday, according to reports in the British regional media.

The Evening Standard is reporting that the north London side are set to complete the signing the Uruguay international Torreira as Unai Emery looks to continue bolstering his squad.

According to the same story, Torreira is set to cost the Gunners a fee of £26m, while Leno is believed to have set Arsenal back around £20m.

The article says that Arsenal were able to press forward with talks to bring Leno to London after he was trimmed from Germany’s World Cup squad.

However, they may be forced to wait until after Uruguay’s involvement in Russia before moving ahead with plans to bring Torreira to the club.

Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Emery looks to try and assemble a squad capable of at least breaking back into the top four next season.

The north London side have finished outside the top four for the last two seasons running and ended up sixth and without a trophy in the top flight last term.
