Arsenal are ready to make a summer transfer swoop to sign Sampdoria defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet Calciomercato Sampdoria, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the north London side have an agreement in place to bring the defensive midfielder to The Emirates this summer.
According to the same story, Torreira is available for a transfer fee of around £21.9m (€25m) because of a release clause in his contract.
However, the north London side are believed to be facing a race against time to complete the deal, because the clause reported expires at the end of this month.
Arsenal chiefs have apparently registered their interest in Totteira with his agent Pablo Bentancur ahead of a possible summer move.
The 22-year-old midfielder scored four goals and made one assist in 36 Serie A games for Lazio last season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to build a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
The north London side are currently preparing for their first season under Unai Emery after Arsene Wenger stood down at the end of last term.
