Arsenal want to sign World Cup winner from Borussia Dortmund – report
Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Mario Gotze, according to a report
Arsenal are interested in a potential swoop to sign Mario Gotze in the summer transfer window, according to a report in England.
Sky Sports News is reporting that the Gunners are monitoring the Germany international’s situation at Borussia Dortmund.
The same article states that Arsenal face competition from their Premier League rivals Everton and West Ham United.
According to the same story, the north London side will also have to see off Marseille and Valencia to secure Gotze’s signing.
Borrusia Dortmund are also reported to be asking £22m for Gotze after the Westfalenstadion outfit re-signed the World Cup winner from Bayern Munich in 2017.
Gotze has struggled to rekindle his incredible Bundesliga form that earned him a move to Bayern from Dortmund in 2013.
The 26-year-old has scored two goals and has made four assists in 23 Bundesliga appearances in the 2017-18 season.
Arsenal have ties with Dortmund given their head of recruitment Sven Mislintat previously worked at the Bundesliga side.
The Gunners have already signed Switzerland captain Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus in the summer transfer window.
The north London side haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when the Gunners finished the campaign unbeaten.
