Italian media website Calciomercato quotes reporter Patrick Juillard who is claiming that the Gunners are planning a surprise swoop to sign the Belgium international from their bitter rivals Manchester United.
Juillard went on to claim that the north London side will meet with Fellaini’s agent in a hotel in the English capital to discuss a potential switch.
Calciomercato goes on to add that Serie A giants AC Milan are interested in Fellaini’s signature but could miss out following Arsenal’s surprise interest in the former Everton midfielder.
The Gunners are in the summer market to improve their options in the middle of the park following a disappointing season under Arsene Wenger.
The French head coach stood down at the end of the campaign after Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table.
The north London side haven’t qualified for the Champions League since 2015-16 Premier League campaign.
Fellaini is set to become a free agent this summer after failing to agree to a new contract with the Gunners.
Arsenal lost 3-0 to Premier League champions Manchester City in the League Cup final earlier this year.
