Arsenal have been handed a boost in their bid to sign Steven N'Zonzi, according to reports in the British media
Arsenal have been handed a boost in their apparent bid to sign Steven N’Zonzi this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the 29-year-old has decided that he wants to leave Sevilla and play for a bigger club.
The same report says that Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to bring the midfielder to The Emirates this summer as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.
Arsenal have been touted as a target for the former Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers man and his latest comments have suggested that he is open to a move away from Sevilla this summer.
The same article quotes N’Zonzi as saying: “I am feeling very good at Seville but they are not the biggest club in Europe.
“Playing with high profile players in a big team could be a good progression for me.
“We all know that the transfer window is open but we don’t talk about it that much.”
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of top signings this summer as Emery prepares for his first campaign in charge.
The Spaniard’s first job will be to lead Arsenal back into the top four, after the Gunners missed out on Champions League qualification for next season following their sixth-placed finish in the top flight.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph back in the 2003-04 campaign.
