Arsenal will complete a £15m deal to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos by Sunday, according to a report in Germany.
German media outlet Kicker, as quoted by talkSPORT, is reporting that the Gunners are closing in on a swoop to sign the Greece international.
The Gunners are still waiting to complete their first deal under new Arsenal manager Unai Emery after the Spanish head coach was announced as Arsene Wenger’s successor last month.
The same article states that Arsenal and Dortmund have settled on a £15m transfer fee for Sokratis as Emery looks to improve his defensive options ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.
According to the same story, the Greek defender is set to undergo a medical in the English capital this week to edge a step closer to a move to the Gunners.
Kicker add that the Greece international is set to pen a three-year deal with the north London side to remain at Arsenal until 2021.
Sokratis has scored 10 goals in 198 appearances in all competitions during a five-season spell at Borussia Dortmund.
The Greek defender has spent time at AEK Athens, Genona, AC Milan and Werder Bremen during his journeyman career so far.
