Arsenal manager Unai Emery asks about signing 29-year-old La Liga star – report
Unai Emery wants Arsenal to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi this summer, according to a report in Spain
Unai Emery has already asked Sevilla about bringing Steven N’Zonzi to Arsenal this summer, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet AS, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the new Gunner manager is interested in a deal to bring the France international to the north London side in the current transfer window.
The same article states that a deal could happen given Sevilla have already identified Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente this summer as a replacement for the former Blackburn Rovers star.
According to the same story, Sevilla have set N’Zonzi’s asking price at £35m which could prove a stumbling block for the Gunners given Emery’s limited summer budget ahead of the new Premier League season.
N’Zonzi is currently on duty with France at the World Cup after the Sevilla star scored one goal and made two assists in 27 appearances in La Liga last season.
Arsenal signed veteran Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus earlier this month.
The Gunners brought in Germany international Bernd Leno from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in a reported £20m deal on Tuesday evening.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04.
