Arsenal are closing in on the triple signing of Lucas Torreira, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos for a combined £50m, according to reports in the British media.

The Evening Standard is reporting that the north London side are set to complete three new signings in the coming days as they look to bolster their squad ahead of Unai Emery’s first campaign in charge.

It’s claimed in the same story that the Gunners are close to signing Sampdoria midfielder Torreira for £26m and that they have approached Bayer Leverkusen about the £20m signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The same article says that Arsenal are discussing personal terms with representatives of Uruguay midfielder Torreira as they look to ramp up their summer transfer business.

And Arsenal are also widely expected to confirm the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Papastathopoulos for £16m this summer as they look to bolster their options at the back.

Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of signings this summer as new boss Emery looks to build a squad at least capable of breaking back into the top four next season.

The north London side finished in sixth place and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign in charge last term.
