Atletico Madrid to improve Liverpool FC target’s contract – report
Atletico Madrid look set to offer goalkeeper Jan Oblak a new contract this summer, say reports
Atletico Madrid are out to improve Jan Oblak’s contract to ward off interest from the likes of Liverpool FC this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet AS is reporting that the La Liga side want to offer the goalkeeper a new deal after having also secured the long-term future of Antoine Griezmann last week.
Oblak has been strongly linked with a transfer to Liverpool FC in recent months as the Merseyside outfit look to try and strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
The Reds are believed to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper as they look to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League next season.
The same report says that Oblak has been on the radar of the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool FC recently, and that Atletico Madrid want to tie him down to a new deal.
The new deal could involve raising his buyout clause from €100m, which could be paid by some of Europe’s top clubs.
Liverpool FC have already completed their first signing of the summer transfer window after having landed Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco.
