Chelsea FC contact Serie A club about 27-year-old Italy international – report
Chelsea FC are interested in a deal to sign AS Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi, according to a report in Italy
Chelsea FC have made an approach to sign AS Roma midfielder Alessandro Lorenzi ahead of interest from AC Milan and Juventus, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Gazzetto dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Chelsea FC are interested in a deal to bring in the 27-year-old in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The same article states that Florenzi is ready to call time on his AS Roma career after the versatile midfielder failed to agree to a new contract with the Serie A side.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are interested in a transfer swoop for Florenzi to bolster their squad ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.
Lorenzi can play at right-back or in midfield so his acquisition would certainly add more flexibility to the west London side following a difficult season.
The Italian star has scored 25 times in 223 appearances over the past six seasons in the Italian capital.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second time in three seasons.
The Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month.
