Insider claims Chelsea FC, Man United can afford to sign top 29-year-old striker
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol talks up Chelsea FC and Man United's chances of signing Robert Lewandowski
Chelsea FC and Manchester United have the financial resources to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, Kaveh Solhekol has claimed.
The Bayern Munich striker is being tipped to leave the Bundesliga champions in the summer transfer window given his frosty relationship with the German club’s board.
Lewandowski has won four successive Bundesliga titles and has scored 151 times in 195 games in all competitions since his move to Bayern from their rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
Chelsea FC are believed to be in the market to sign a goal-scorer following Alvaro Morata’s difficult first season in the Premier League after his move from Real Madrids last summer.
Manchester United would find it difficult to turn down a marquee signing and Lewandowski would certainly fit the bill although it remains to be seen how he would slot into the team alongside Romelu Lukaku.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol named Chelsea FC and Manchester United as the two Premier League contenders to sign the Poland international in the current transfer window.
“You are talking about Chelsea and Man United who could afford him,” Solhekol told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“We’ve heard a lot of times about him move to England. This time it is more serious.”
Lewandowski was signed by Jurgen Klopp during the German head coach’s spell in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
The Polish forward won two Bundesliga titles and the German Cup under the current Liverpool FC boss at Westfalenstadion.
