Chelsea FC offered advice about Alvaro Morata ahead of next season
Chelsea FC should stick with Alvaro Morata as their top striker, according to Alejandro Moreno
Alejandro Moreno has urged Chelsea FC to stick with Alvaro Morata and give the Spanish striker another chance to prove himself next season.
Morata signed for the Blues from Real Madrid last summer but he endured something of a mixed debut campaign in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old started the season strongly but ended up suffering a slump in form in the middle part of the campaign after he sustained a back injury.
His form never really recovered from there, and he was also kept out of the team by January signing Olivier Giroud, who joined the Blues from Arsenal at the turn of the year.
His lack of playing time in the second part of the campaign and his mixed form has inevitably prompted speculation that he may not have a future at Chelsea FC.
However, former Venezuela star Moreno feels that the Spain international deserves at least another season to prove himself as the main man at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to ESPN FC, Moreno said: “I’d stick with him but not as a top line striker. The problem is he is paid like a top line striker.”
Morata ended up missing out on a place in the Spain squad for this summer’s World Cup due to his stuttering form for Chelsea FC.
