The Sun, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Blues are looking to make a move to bring the 16-year-old teenager to Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to the same report, Chelsea FC are keen to add some more young talent to their squad and have identified the teenage Wigan forward as one of their top targets this summer.
However, the same story says that Chelsea FC could be set to face a fight to try and bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer, because Wigan manager Paul Cook is keen to keep hold of him and give him a chance in the first team.
It is also claimed in the same article that Fulham are keen on a move for Gelhardt this summer.
Chelsea FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer after their disappointing campaign under Antonio Conte this term.
The west London side ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table and missed out on a place in the Champions League for next season, before winning the FA Cup.
