Napoli star responds directly to Chelsea FC transfer talk
Kalidou Koulibaly insists he is not thinking about a possible transfer to Chelsea FC this summer
Kalidou Koulibaly has laughed off the speculation linking him with a big-money transfer to Chelsea FC this summer.
The Napoli defender has long been touted as a possible target for the west London club and he was thought to be close to signing for the Blues back in the summer of 2016.
However, a move to Stamford Bridge never materialised and the Senegal international has been in good form for Napoli in recent seasons.
According to Metro, incoming Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri is hoping to make Koulibaly one of his first summer signings if he does indeed take over at Stamford Bridge this summer.
But when asked about the speculation linking him with a £88m transfer to Chelsea FC this summer, Koulibaly replied: “€100m, if you tell my parents this figure I think they’ll have a good laugh!
“This price is what the market dictates, I don’t think about it, I just try and do my best on the pitch.
“I don’t think for a minute about my future because we’ve worked for three years to be here and if something may confuse me during the World Cup I will leave it aside because I want to be 100 per cent focused on the World Cup.
“We’ve worked a great deal, we’re very committed and we want to be in the last 16.
“As for the rest, we’ll see later and all my team-mates should trust me and each other so I don’t give a minute to my future right now.”
Chelsea FC are yet to make any new signings this summer as they first look to resolve the managerial situation at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will not be able to offer new players any Champions League football next term after they ended up in fifth place in the table last season.
However, they were able to end the campaign on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
