England star warns Chelsea FC that he could seek move away
Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits that he is desperate to hold down a regular playing spot at Chelsea FC
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has warned Chelsea FC that he will seek a transfer away from the west London club unless he is able to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old midfielder has earned a spot in the England squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, but he admits that is probably only the case because of his loan spell at Crystal Palace last season.
Loftus-Cheek made 24 appearances for Roy Hodgson’s side last term as he reaped the benefits of playing regularly for the Eagles.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the midfielder, but he admits that his loan spell last season has taught him about the importance of regular first-team football.
Loftus-Cheek told a news conference while international duty with England: “Going forward I’ve really realised the importance of playing regularly for my own progress and development.
“I felt like I got better and better every game at Palace so playing regularly is the key going forward and that will help me make my decision after the World Cup.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The Blues ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table last term as they missed out on Champions League qualification, but still managed to win the FA Cup.
