Argentina star warned against summer transfer to Chelsea FC
Mauro Icardi is warned against a summer move to Chelsea FC by Paolo Baldini
Mauro Icardi has been warned against a summer move to Chelsea FC by Paolo Baldini.
The Blues are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
The west London side slumped to a disappointing fifth-placed finish in the Premier League table last term as they missed out on qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Inter Milan star Icardi has been touted as a possible transfer target for the west London side this summer as they look to build a team capable of challenging for the title next term.
But Baldini believes that the 25-year-old would be better off staying at Inter Milan and developing his career with the Italian side.
Speaking to ESPN FC, Baldini said: “I don’t think Icardi would like it at Chelsea as the right career move.
“He has waited to a long time to play Champions League football. He says he is happy in Milan.”
Chelsea FC did manage to end the season on a positive note when they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month.
The Blues will be looking to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season after their disappointing form in the top flight this time around.
It remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte will remain in charge at Chelsea FC or not beyond the summer.
