Chelsea FC on the brink of appointing their new manager – report
Chelsea FC are set to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new manager, say reports
Chelsea FC are on the verge of appointing Maurizio Sarri as their new manager, according to reports in Italy.
Italian news outlet CalcioNapoli24, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Blues are set to bring in the Italian manager as a replacement for Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Conte’s future has been a relentless source of speculation all summer after the Blues missed out on a place in the Champions League for next season following their fifth placed finish in the Premier League.
Sarri has been touted as one of the leading candidates to take over at Stamford Bridge this summer, and reports are now claiming that Chelsea FC director Marina Granovskaia is thrashing out an agreement with Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis to land the Italian.
The same report says that Chelsea FC are expected to pay around £4.4m (€5m) to Napoli to secure the services of Sarri this summer.
The Blues endured a frustrating campaign last season as Conte’s side struggled to produce consistent form in the Premier League.
However, they did manage to end the campaign on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
