Chelsea FC finally close to appointing their new manager – report
Chelsea FC are closing in on the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as their new manager, say reports
Chelsea FC are closing in on the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as the club’s new manager, according to reports in the British media.
The Guardian is reporting that the Italian manager is growing increasingly confident that a deal can be struck to bring him to the Stamford Bridge hot-seat from Napoli this summer.
The same report says that Sarri is likely to move to Stamford Bridge with Blues legend Gianfranco Zola joining as his assistant.
The Chelsea managerial situation has been a source of relentless uncertainty in recent months, with Antonio Conte widely expected to depart the west London club this summer.
However, there has not yet been any official announcement from the Blues and Conte remains in charge at the club as things stand.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC could be set to pay a £3.5m fee to Napoli to secure the services of Sarri as their new manager this summer.
Chelsea FC endured something of a disappointing campaign last term when they ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table and missed out on Champions League qualification.
However, they did end the campaign on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
