Chelsea FC have made a £35m bid to try and sign Daniele Rugani from Juventus and make him their first summer signing, according to reports in the British media.

The Evening Standard is reporting that the Blues are keen on a deal to bring the Juventus defender to Stamford Bridge this summer as they look to bolster their options at the back ahead of next season.

The same report says that the west London side are hoping that Rugani can become the first signing of the Maurizio Sarri era at Stamford Bridge, with the Italian manager widely tipped to succeed Antonio Conte this summer.

Rugani has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea FC in recent days and the 23-year-old is widely regarded to be one of the top young defenders in European football.

According to the same story, Rugani is prepared to leave Juventus this summer after having started only 22 games in Serie A for the Italian side last season.

The west London side are said to be preparing the offer of a five-year contract for Rugani, worth £60,000 a week, which is around double what he currently earns.

Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League and won the FA Cup last season under Conte.
