Chelsea FC reject £35m bid from Real Madrid for key player – report
Chelsea FC have turned down a £35m bid for Thibaut Courtois from Real Madrid this summer, say reports
Chelsea FC have turned down a bid of £35m for Thibaut Courtois from Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Gianluca Di Marzio, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Spanish side have tabled an opening offer to try and sign the goalkeeper, who has just one year left to run on his contract with the Blues.
Courtois’ future at Stamford Bridge has been a source of speculation due to the fact that his current deal is set to expire at the end of next season.
The same story says that Real Madrid have now turned their attentions towards signing Alisson from AS Roma, but that they have also had an official bid for Courtois turned down by Chelsea FC.
The Blues are likely to want to get Courtois’ future resolved as quickly as possible.
If they are unable to get him to commit to a new contract, it could be in their interests to sell him this summer rather than risk losing him on a free transfer this time next year.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are yet to make any new signings this summer as they bid to build a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
