Chelsea FC would be an exciting prospect with Gareth Bale in their team alongside Eden Hazard, according to ESPN FC pundit Paul Mariner.

The Wales international has been linked with a potential exit at Stamford Bridge this summer following a difficult 2017-18 season at The Bernabeu.

Bale struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Real Madrid team and fell behind Marco Asensio and Isco in the pecking order in the Spanish capital.

However, the 29-year-old ended the campaign with a flurry of four goals in his last four La Liga appearances before he came off the bench to score twice in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win against Liverpool FC in the Champions League final in Kiev.

Manchester United have been talked up as favourites to sign Bale but Chelsea FC have been listed as another potential destination for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.

Chelsea FC have relied heavily on Hazard over the past few seasons, winning two Premier League titles in the past four seasons under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Former Arsenal star Mariner believes Chelsea FC would be an exciting team with both Bale and Hazard in the starting XI.

“I think Chelsea fans with the Willian stuff floating around, if you have Bale and Hazard in the same team, you’d lick your lips,” Mariner told ESPN FC.

“I am hesitant to say it would work at Man United.”

Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term.
