Chelsea FC hand 23-year-old Italian contract worth £3.1m a season – report
Chelsea FC agree terms with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge, according to report in Italy
Chelsea FC have agreed terms with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet SportItalia, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Blues are closing in on a deal to sign Rugani in the current transfer window.
The same article states that the 23-year-old won’t complete a move to Chelsea FC until former Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri is confirmed as Antonio Conte’s replacement.
However, the Blues have agreed upon a contract worth £3.1m (€3.5m) per season with the Italy international ahead of his proposed move to Stamford Bridge.
Rugani scored five times in 83 games for Empoli before he completed a move to Juventus in the 2015 summer transfer window.
The Blues are looking to sign the Italian defender to improve their options at the back ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second successive campaign.
The Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final thanks to Eden Hazard’s winner from the spot.
