Chelsea FC to sell Brazilian in £26m deal to fund first summer signing – report
Napoli are interested in a deal to sign Chelsea FC defender David Luiz this summer, according to a report
Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti is plotting a £26m bid to sign Chelsea FC defender David Luiz, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Il Mattino, as quoted by the Sun, is reporting that Ancelotti is planning a raid on his former club to improve the Napoli defence.
The same article states that Napoli are looking to capitalise on negotiations with Chelsea FC over Maurizio Sarri to lure Luiz to Naples this summer.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC would be willing to sell Luiz to free up funds to complete a £35m deal for Italian defender Daniele Rugani.
Luiz struggled to break into Antonio Conte’s team in the Premier League last term despite being a key part of the Italian’s defence in their title-winning campaign in 2016-17.
Chelsea FC are facing uncertainty surrounding their managerial position following relentless speculation linking Sarri with Conte’s role.
The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the second time in three campaigns.
The west London side were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final thanks to Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
