Chelsea FC could miss out on 26-year-old Serie A star – report
Chelsea FC could be left disappointed in their bid to sign Inter Milan defender Matias Vecino, according to a report
Chelsea FC could be left disappointed in the race to sign Inter Milan defender Matias Vecino, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Uruguay international could remain at the San Siro outfit beyond the summer transfer window.
The same article states that Vecino’s agent Alessandro Lucci has met with Inter representatives in Milan with view to a potential contract extension to warn off Chelsea FC.
According to the same story, the South American could commit to a new deal which would represent a significant blow to Chelsea FC’s plans to sign the 26-year-old.
The Italian website suggests that incoming Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri is a big admirer of the Inter defender and the ex-Napoli head coach wanted Vecino to improve his defensive options.
The Inter defender has helped Uruguay to keep three successive clean sheets at the World Cup in Russia to help his national team to set up a meeting with Portugal in the round of 16.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
