The Daily Express is reporting that the Blues are closing in on the appointment of Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.
The same article states that Sarri has already agreed a deal in principle with Chelsea FC but Antonio Conte remains at the west London club for now.
According to the same story, the controversial ex-Napoli boss wants to raid the Naples club for Belgium forward Dries Mertens to bolster their attacking options.
The Daily Express goes on to add that Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj is another star that Sarri would love to bring to Stamford Bridge once his appointment is completed.
Juventus centre half Daniele Rugani, Inter Milan’s Uruguay international Matias Vecino, Nice star Jean Seri and Napoli winger Jose Maria Callejon have all emerged as targets, according to the English media outlet.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League under Sarri.
The Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
