Chelsea FC ready to sign 26-year-old to replace flop – report
Chelsea FC want to conclude a deal to sign Jean Seri from Nice, according to reports
Chelsea FC are weighing up a deal to sign Jean Seri from Nice as a replacement for Danny Drinkwater this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Blues are keen on a move for the Nice midfielder as they look to revamp their squad this summer.
The same report says that the west London club are ready to cut their losses this summer and sell Drinkwater just a year after he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Leicester City.
The 28-year-old struggled with both form and fitness issues at Chelsea FC last season and failed to make much of an impact under Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
The same story says that Chelsea FC have now identified Ivory Coast midfielder Seri, 26, as the ideal man to replace Drinkwater this summer.
Seri is no stranger to transfer talk linking him with a move to the Premier League, with the midfielder having been touted as a target for the likes of Chelsea FC, Arsenal and Manchester United recently.
Chelsea FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to build a squad capable of at least breaking back into the top four next season.
