Thibaut Courtois would prefer to return to Madrid with Atletico or Real this summer, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Belgium international is rumoured to be considering a potential exit at Stamford Bridge this summer following a disappointing season for the Blues.

Courtois has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup during four seasons in the first team at Stamford Bridge since he returned from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid to replace Petr Cech as Chelsea FC’s number one.

The Blues finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League spot, leading to speculation surrounding some of their key players such as Courtois, Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Willian.

Courtois is thought to be keen on a move to Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid given his ex-girlfriend and children are in the Spanish capital.

Sky Sports News reporter Sheth has confirmed that Courtois has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid or a return to Atletico Madrid.

“In an ideal world Courtois would like to move back to Madrid,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “His ex girlfriend and children are there.”

Chelsea FC allowed Courtois to spend three seasons on loan at Atletico between 2011 and 2014 after the Belgian shot stopper replaced David De Gea at Vicente Calderon.
