La Liga expert Graham Hunter runs the rule over the possible appointment of Diego Simeone as the next Chelsea FC boss
Graham Hunter has ruled out Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone replacing Antonio Conte at Chelsea.
The Blues are thought to be on the lookout for a new manager as Conte’s time at the Stamford Bridge comes to an end following a difficult season season.
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare in the Italian coach’s first season in charge but the Blues ended up in fifth spot in the table last term.
The west London side were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley following Eden Hazard’s first-half winner from the penalty spot.
Conte has been regularly critical of the Chelsea FC board due to his unhappiness at the west London side’s transfer policy.
Simeone has led Atletico to the La Liga title, two Europa League crowns, two Champions League finals and the Copa del Rey.
La Liga expert Hunter has poured cold water on talk of Simeone taking over the reins at Chelsea FC ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season.
“Diego Simene could still go there but I don’t think he will,” Hunter told Irish radio station Newstalk. “He wants to speak the language of the country he goes to.”
Chelsea FC haven’t won the Champions League title since 2012 when the Blues beat Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the European Cup final on penalties.
