Chelsea FC have won the race to sign 16-year-old PSV Eindhoven defender Ian Maatsen, according to a report in the Netherlands.

Dutch media outlet ED, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Blues have managed to sign the Dutch teenager in the 2018 summer transfer window.

The same article states that Maatsen has informed PSV that he will move to the 2017 Premier League champions ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

According to the same story, PSV offered the promising defender a three-year deal with the Eredivisie side but Maatsen has opted to move to the English capital.

Maatsen, who is comfortably playing at centre-half and left-back, is reporting that the Blues will have to pay £97,000 in compensation to PSV.

The Blues are looking to overhaul their squad following a disappointing second season under Italian head coach Antonio Conte.

Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second time in three seasons.

The west London side were 1-0 winners against their bitter rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.

The Blues won the Premier League title in Conte’s first season in charge.
